Clarity
These pieces were inspired by my depression caused by my use of hormonal birth control. While I was using a certain type of hormonal birth control, I had a lot of anxiety and felt like my life was a tangled mess and didn’t make any sense. As soon as I switched hormones, I felt like this fog cleared and I was finally able to see my life and everything in it in a new, clear way. Even though nothing in my life had changed besides the hormones, my perspective on my life changed completely, for the better. This piece uses an anamorphic mirror to create that feeling of sudden clarity. The images alone are confusing and hard to decipher. Looking at the images through the mirror allows the viewer to see clearly what the image is. This shows the power of perspective and one’s mindset.
